Theme: The tensions between perceived personal aesthetic preferences and the packaging of aesthetics for exchange in the market place intrigue me. Trade marked Ralph Lauren home decorator paint chips are exchanged with visitors during the performance. Multiples of these are also available for taking during the installation exhibition. Water is another medium used during the performance, and when shown overflow water in a dish, visitors in Montréal deposited their chosen paint colour chip into the water as shown in the photograph.
Treatment: Throughout the real time performance, a television monitor positioned beside her shows a recording of the artist teaching in another time and space. This recording is replaced during the follow-up installation with the recording of the performance that took place in that same gallery space.
