Videos shown on the above portable video monitor were intended to act as another medium for Voltaire-like pamphlet distribution advocating social change. The video Human Bytes was jointly funded by Prim Video of Montréal and Dïamon Video of Gatineau in the Voltaire Residency Project and then shown at the festival. It was then selected by Prim Video for screening at the Casablanca 7th Video Festival in Morocco Africa later in 2000.
Voltaire (1694 – 1778) was a French writer and philosopher who dared to petition against the status quo institutions in France during the age of Enlightenment, defending notably freedom of religion and a fair trial.
