Narratives: Personal and Public, new prints from part 2 of the Arctic Crisis series, c. 2009.
Photo collage prints, video and performance artworks shown are inspired by my photography and journaling that I did nearly thirty-years ago while working in the Central Arctic as a preventative health educator in January/February 1981. The repositioning of filtered memory and perceptions across time and technology locates this body of work in a contemporary aesthetic discourse on the transience of human identity, and the intersection of personal and public narratives. A reading performance of the journals during the exhibition will be video taped and shown as one of the exhibition elements.
