Theme: Consumption of the human spirit by digital technology affecting how we see and position ourselves in time and space. Related themes include: the commoditization of human identity, isolation from self and community, containment into boxes, trace and memory.

Inspiration: I happened upon an Eaton’s bankruptcy sale where groups of discarded clothes mannequins were either regimentally organized with price tags, or thrown in a heap with limbs chaotically entangled.

Comment by Barbara Cuerden, Arts Writer/Artist: “The connection between the car wind-screen and our comfort with continually looking through other screens to “get somewhere” is interesting. Rather than a sense of being “here” now. Let’s face it- we like speed, distraction , and a nice view, until it comes around and bites us.”

Treatment: Frontal and deep spatial tensions are created using special effects such as the chromo key, strobe, and transparency.

Sound: is a mix of electronic percussion instrumental with intermittent voice-over of stream-of-conscious thoughts.

Format: DVD, VHS
Time: 1 minute without credits, 2 minutes with credits.
