Lecture: Contemporary Visual Art Discourse – How we see and Human Identity
Lecturer: Sandra Hawkins
The course was a critical examination of contemporary aesthetic discourse in the visual and media arts in Canada, 1980 to present. I used the artists’ voice using videos of them talking about their art. Themes and shifts in the ongoing discussion of what is art, how we see, and implications for understanding identity were discussed. Lectures, discussions, videos, optional student presentations, and National Gallery visit to Caught in the Act, Special Contemporary Exhibition on February 13th.
Course Packet was prepared by Sandra Hawkins and available for purchase from the Learning in Retirement Program.
