Presentation Success & Publication Coming Soon! Update #4

Thanks everyone who made it to the Sailing the Top of The World presentations in November 2019 at the Research in Art (RIA) 94th Salon and Britannia Yacht Club hosted event. There will be publications by the same name in both ebook and hard copy formats available at Amazon.ca in 2020.

Sailing The Top of The World – Arctic Expedition Artist Residency on Climate Change, by Sandra Hawkins, hosted by Britannia Yacht Club, 2777 Cassels St. Ottawa ON, November 27, 2019

The presentations stimulated thoughtful questions relating to climate change, including why I had to do creative research when there was already an overwhelming amount of “data”. My answer was simply that I was putting it together differently from my first-hand observations of being in the Svalbard Archipelago, the fastest heating-up place on the globe at 4% rate. Further, that both my art and public speaking are visually driven, and use a personal style of anecdotal story-telling, approaches to resonate at a deeper level than the everyday “data” sound-bytes delivered by News media. I prefer the adage “a picture is worth a 1000 words“, and the Biblical “the shortest distance between truth and a human being is a story“.
